A new book, The Third Reich at War by Richard J. Evans is reviewed in today's Saturday Times, you can see full article here. Http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article4915271.ece

It sounds a fascinating book, which in my opinion, should be required reading for all schoolchildren, 11 and upwards, so that what happened during that period is never forgotten.

There are however, two extracts from the review, which have very strong similarities as to what ...

1. Alistair Darling used to belong to, maybe he still does as he has never denied he is no longer a member, of the International Maxist Community which as part of its policy, wanted to see the State and policical ownership of capital and the banking system.

Its seems as the Maxists in this country have got their wish.

We should be scared of the State owning banks and becoming involved ...

I bet they feel really proud of themselves, another arch criminal caught bang to rights, and now with a criminal record as well, so anything she does in the future will be watched very closely.

Good old Labour eh?

Anti-Smoking Advocate Says Smokers are a Bad Role Model for their Children. By Michael Siegel.

I would say that how much the parents love their kids and show them love, the values they teach their kids, and the example they set for them in terms of morals such as compassion, kindness, honesty, respect, and tolerance are perhaps some of the most important factors in terms of whether I would consider a parent to be a good role model for their children.

Following on closely from my last post, I gave feed-back to Alton Towers yesterday.

I had booked, and paid for, in February, for a family party of 13 to stay at the Splash Landings Hotel on the occasion of my wife's Big 50. That was last weekend, and we had a wonderful time.

Eventually I was put through to a young guy who grudgingly conceded that he was probably the one to take negative feedback. I told him that, had it stated anywhere on their web-site, at the time I made the ...

I usually spend up to six-months a year working away from home. My choice for accommodation has been Motels, usually Premier Inn. They have banned smoking in their rooms so I fed back that the decision will be costing them about £7,500 a year in loss of my custom. I get a garbled and miss-informed response to the effect that it is unlawful to smoke in an enclosed space. Sorry, I tell them, the law allows smoking in hotel bedrooms if they are designated as smoking rooms.

Green taxes are far higher than is necessary to offset the cost of Britain's carbon emissions, a pressure group has claimed.

Households pay £19.6 billion a year too much in taxes on flights, fuel and their cars, the TaxPayers' Alliance (TPA) said.

The total burden of green taxes and charges was £24.2 billion in 2007/08 - even though the social cost of the UK's entire output of greenhouse gases was £4.6 billion, according to estimates from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ...

I just looked up fuel prices in Spain, compared to here in the UK.

In Spain Unleaded = 87p a litre. Diesel = 83p a litre

Here it is £1.13 for Unleaded and £1.24 for Diesel (and rising)

That is 26p difference on Unleaded and 41p difference on Diesel.

Bear in mind that Spain and all the other European countries get their fuel from the same source as us. The only reason we are the most expensive is, Gordon-tax the family-Brown.

This is the type of thing that I hate. It is pure propaganda, and probably paid for by Big Pharma. Have a look at this crap that AOL has put on its front page, as if it is real, and read carefully the words.

I am just so angry. Does anyone know how we can find out who pays for advertising like this, which is so misleading?

You think the ban is bad here in the UK?

In the US it is even worse. Could it really be worse? Yes it damn well could, in Will County, the new ban forbids smoking in public places where employees could be exposed to second-hand smoke. That includes some vehicles such as public buses and police cars, for example. So if a police officer stopped a squad at a busy intersection and rolled down the windows, no one could smoke within 15 feet of either side of their car.
