A new book, The Third Reich at War by Richard J. Evans is reviewed in today's Saturday Times, you can see full article here. Http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/books/article4915271.ece

It sounds a fascinating book, which in my opinion, should be required reading for all schoolchildren, 11 and upwards, so that what happened during that period is never forgotten.

There are however, two extracts from the review, which have very strong similarities as to what ...

Anti-Smoking Advocate Says Smokers are a Bad Role Model for their Children. By Michael Siegel.

I would say that how much the parents love their kids and show them love, the values they teach their kids, and the example they set for them in terms of morals such as compassion, kindness, honesty, respect, and tolerance are perhaps some of the most important factors in terms of whether I would consider a parent to be a good role model for their children.

Following on closely from my last post, I gave feed-back to Alton Towers yesterday.

I had booked, and paid for, in February, for a family party of 13 to stay at the Splash Landings Hotel on the occasion of my wife's Big 50. That was last weekend, and we had a wonderful time.

Eventually I was put through to a young guy who grudgingly conceded that he was probably the one to take negative feedback. I told him that, had it stated anywhere on their web-site, at the time I made the ...

Sirs,

I usually spend up to six-months a year working away from home. My choice for accommodation has been Motels, usually Premier Inn. They have banned smoking in their rooms so I fed back that the decision will be costing them about £7,500 a year in loss of my custom. I get a garbled and miss-informed response to the effect that it is unlawful to smoke in an enclosed space. Sorry, I tell them, the law allows smoking in hotel bedrooms if they are designated as smoking rooms.

That includes some vehicles such as public buses and police cars, for example. So if a police officer stopped a squad at a busy intersection and rolled down the windows, no one could smoke within 15 feet of either side of their car.

BERLIN : Owners of one-room, corner pubs in a southwestern German state won a partial victory against a new anti-smoking law on Tuesday, when a court ruled their customers are allowed to puff away.

Someone just pointed this out to me, you can read the whole article here:

The NHS faces accusations that it wasted millions of pounds trying to help smokers to quit.

While smokers prop up the NHS with the revenue collected by HM Gov from tobacco products, the NHS itself, continues to throw the money down the drain.

Last year, more than £7.5 million was spent on smoking cessation schemes in London alone, with only a small percentage actually giving up.

I recently wrote on another forum, to Boris Johnson's campaign team to ask his views on the smoking ban.

Than, as a sort of experiment, I decided to get in touch with the Socialist Party and ask them the same thing. Seeing as they say that they uphold the rights of the ordinary man, I asked them how they felt about the rights of the ordinary man who smokes, who apparently makes up the majority of smokers.

I received answers from both of, which unbelievably were very much alike.

I've missed the front-page today, but I'm sure this must mean that someone's getting a little bit worried about the truth getting out, and we all keep chipping away.

We are bombarded night and day by the anti-smoking lobby, and their friends in the Big Pharmaceutical Businesses, with propaganda telling us that nicotine is highly addictive, and the only way to kick the habit, is to buy their products, which include patches and other drugs, which also contain nicotine.

The following, was taken from The Daily Mail Weekend TV Magazine 16th Feb 2008.

It's estimated that half of all British children grow up in households where at least one parent smokes. As well as immediate health risks from passive smoking, there's danger down the line as these youngsters are more likely to smoke as well. This ...

Just been reading an article in the Local paper, I was expecting some sort of balanced view on litterbugs however it revolved around fining 3 people for dropping lighted cigarettes.

Total fines and costs imposed £770.00 on smokers with nowhere to put lighted cigarettes. No news on the people who fill the same area with tons of fast food containers and wrappers.

They are bashing smokers at every opportunity.
