Litterbugs fined
Just been reading an article in the Local paper, I was expecting some sort of balanced view on litterbugs however it revolved around fining 3 people for dropping lighted cigarettes.
Total fines and costs imposed £770.00 on smokers with nowhere to put lighted cigarettes. No news on the people who fill the same area with tons of fast food containers and wrappers.
They are bashing smokers at every opportunity.

This type of thing just makes me so angry. Have these idiots never looked at our pavements which are littered with chewing gum?
Look down at the pavement, especially on a wet day, when the pavement looks darker and the white blobs of gum show up like confetti. I challenge anyone to try walking past a bus stop or a newsagent's shop, without stepping in blob after blob of this awful sticky mess.
When it rains, cigarette ends are automatically washed away, usually ending up down the drains, chewing gum stays there for months. Even council cleaning machines cannot get rid of it. The West End, and Oxford Street in particular spends millions of pounds trying to clear up this awful sticky mess, but we never ever hear of anyone being prosecuted for spitting out their filth onto our pavements do we?
As you say, the pavements are littered with take-away shit, and filthy chewing gum stuck everywhere, but it is the smoker, who throws away probably less than 0.001% of the litter in our streets that ends up being prosecuted.
What is the matter with our society that we allow things like this to happen?
It is like the Jews in pre-war Germany all over again. That started small, and look where it ended up.

We must start hitting back at these scum. Collect all the rubbsih you can, making sure it is not cigarette ends, and throw it in town hall doorways and steps. Let the filthy scum clear it up themselves and fine themselves.

Re: Litterbugs fined
A friend of mine was stopped by these community police, I believe there were 2 of them. They said they had seem him throw a lighted cigarette butt into the road. They asked him for his name and address and told him he would be fined.
He gave them a completely false name and address, and walked away.
What I am trying to point out here, is that these police have no powers at all, to search you for identity or anything else, and if you tell them that you have no money on you and give them a false name and address, there is absolutely nothing they can do about it.
