No Smoking in your Homes

Post  botswana7 on Sat Mar 15, 2008 3:33 am

Back in 2004 Liverpool aspired to be the first British City to become smoke free. Four years on they are back in the news with "smoking ban urged" in homes by Mersey health chiefs. Mad

It seems again that un-elected Health busy bodies and unaccountable stakeholder types are making their own laws and imposing them on the general public, their plan of action must be resisted at all costs we must get back to being a true democracy. Crying or Very sad

I Live in the south of England, and usually when I see I things like this, I just shrug my shoulders and think to myself that it is not my part of the world, so I have nothing to worry about. I don't like to admit it, but it's the same when one reads about a motorway crash or similar, the first thing most of us do, is check to see if anyone we know could possibly be involved, and as soon as we know they are not, we are relieved, and move quickly on.

But this, I just know, is something likely to effect all of us. It is like one council trying out road charges, as soon as they get away with it, so another one jumps on the bandwaggon.

They have to be stopped now, before it gets out of hand. Why don't you, as a Liverpudlian (I think?) start a UK Gov petition for a start? Then follow thios is up with your own petition and possible poll on your website, and maybe even try to get a Liverpool Newspaper to back you, and hold a poll?

Thanks Gingerlad, I live in London area and picked up on the story via news feeds.

I felt like this news needed posting as if this is allowed to happen they will use this approach to further attack all UK smokers.
